With SMS, there are two types of messages:

A standard message: these contain characters from the GSM basic character set (see character limits below).

A Unicode message: these contain special characters outside of the GSM basic character set. Hence, these messages will be treated as Unicode (see character limits below).

Long Messages

While a standard single SMS message has a maximum limit of 160 characters, you can in fact send messages that are substantially longer. Think of this limit as a price threshold—if you send a 223-character message, you’ll be billed for sending two messages, however, it’ll appear as one whole message on the recipient’s device.

Standard English Characters:

1 – 160 characters = 1 message
161 – 306 characters = 2 messages
307 – 459 characters = 3 messages
460 – 612 characters = 4 messages
613 – 765 characters = 5 messages
766 – 918 characters = 6 messages
919 – 1071 characters = 7 messages
1072 – 1224 characters = 8 messages

Non-GSM (Unicode) characters:

1 – 70 characters = 1 message
71 – 134 characters = 2 messages
135 – 201 characters = 3 messages
202 – 268 characters = 4 messages
269 – 335 characters = 5 messages
336 – 402 characters = 6 messages
403 – 469 characters = 7 messages
470 – 536 characters = 8 messages

Yes. We can enable a parent-child account, as well as grant different users varying access within the platform. We have three levels of access per user, per function/feature.

Level 1 – no access.

Level 2 – viewing/reading access only.

Level 3 – full access. A total 65 different user permissions.

Some SMS messages need to be delivered straight away to be of any use or relevance, so low latency is particularly important here. Two-factor authentication, banking or ticketing applications are good examples of SMS messages where an instant delivery is important to the end user. If they need to take action as a result of receiving the SMS message, chances are they’re probably waiting for it to arrive—so speed is of the essence. If a customer doesn’t get their expected SMS within a time frame they feel is acceptable, they’ll most likely request another message which results in a higher cost for your business in the long run.

High SMS latency results in higher cost and lower customer satisfaction. Tall Bob won’t let this happen. Instead, we’ll connect you directly to the carrier network, bypassing needless delays that naturally occur as you move through other networks.
